Qizhou Yunmen Shan is renowned for its unique peaks, rocks, and cliff carvings. The mountain resembles a giant dragon coiled, with clouds and mist swirling amidst the peaks and valleys. The most prominent feature is “Yunmen Cave,” with the entrance towering like a gateway to heaven. Ancient cypress trees stand tall and verdant, with vines hanging like curtains, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. A collection of cliff carvings stretches for several miles, with inscriptions dating back to the Tang and Song dynasties, the characters are strong and bold, inscribed with praise such as “Yunmen First Peak.” The most valuable inscriptions are from the Tang Dynasty, revealing the spirit of the Tang Dynasty through the brushstrokes. Reaching the summit, you can overlook the entire ancient city of Qizhou, with the gray-tiled roofs and upturned eaves blending with the mountain scenery, creating a sense of tranquility and serenity. Ancient temples, such as Yunmen Temple, are built into the mountainside, with remnants of Tang Dynasty murals preserved in the rafters and brackets, where the sound of Buddhist chants echoes through the ages.
