Changxing Longshan Scenic Area
Located in Changxing, this scenic area centers around Longshan Temple and Longshan Lake, offering a harmonious blend of mountains, water, and historical sites. Visitors can enjoy boating on the lake, listening to the ancient temple bells, and experiencing the picturesque scenery of “lake and mountain reflected in a single boat.” Longshan Temple, dating back to the Tang Dynasty, exudes the grandeur of a thousand-year-old temple with its soaring eaves and ancient pine trees. The scenic area highlights include the Longshan Lake Ecological Corridor, where visitors can spot white herons and lotus flowers; winding bamboo paths with dappled shadows and fragrant air; and the remnants of an ancient post road, with faint hoof prints on the stone pavement. Climbing to the summit of Longshan Peak offers panoramic views of the lake and mountains, with a distant view of Huzhou’s city walls, providing a refreshing experience. Longshan Temple was established during the Tang Dynasty’s Zhenguan reign and was once a sacred Buddhist site in the south of the Yangtze River, producing generations of eminent monks. Song Dynasty writer Su Shi left an inscription titled “Dragon Mountain Rain” here, and Qing Dynasty painter Shi Tao resided and created here. The scenic area preserves a collection of Song Dynasty stone carvings and Ming and Qing Dynasty stone steles, telling a thousand-year-old cultural narrative. The lakeside fishing villages retain the charm of the Jiangnan water towns, with fishermen’s songs and temple bells creating a harmonious painting of movement and stillness. This area is not only a natural paradise but also an important carrier of Huzhou’s culture, allowing visitors to touch the temperature of history amidst the mountains and waters.
