Taishan Shike
A culmination of ancient Chinese calligraphy and the spirit of scholars, carved into the cliff faces of Taishan, spanning from the Qin and Han Dynasties to the Qing Dynasty, with nearly ten thousand inscriptions, it is a “stone carving museum.” The main attraction is distributed along the central, south and north roads. The central road features the “Confucius Climbs Taishan and Diminishes the World” cliff carving, with a width of three meters, showcasing the Confucian concept of “benevolence prevails in the world.” Du Fu and Kangxi form a dialogue across the sky. The south road features the remaining inscription of Li Si in seal script, a masterpiece of Qin standard script. The north road features Zhu Di’s inscription of “Strange Sea Views” in wild cursive script.
