Bixia Ci is located on the northern side of Yuhuangding (Jade Emperor Peak) on Mount Tai, it is the first of the five major Taoist temples on Mount Tai, founded in the 4th year of the Chongning period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1102 AD), expanded over three dynasties (Yuan, Ming, and Qing), the existing architectural complex is distributed in accordance with the mountain’s shape, with intricate carvings and decorations between the rafters and brackets, golden and opulent, and permeated with the aura of a thousand years of Taoism. Before Yuhuang Cave, the stone carving of “Bixia Yuanjun” is powerful and vigorous, and in the cave, the jade statue of Yuhuang is solemn and kind, legend says it can protect all beings’ well-being. Bixia Pool has shimmering waves, with ancient pines beside it, with a tree age exceeding a thousand years, the branches are twisted like dragons, the bark is mottled like ancient scrolls, witnessing the sincerity of countless worshippers.
