Kaiyuan Temple
Located in Quanzhou, Kaiyuan Temple was founded in the 26th year of the Kaiyuan reign of the Tang Dynasty. It’s a thousand-year-old temple with twin towers, a landmark of the Maritime Silk Road, and a testament to Quanzhou’s prosperity during the Song and Yuan dynasties as “the first great port in the East.” The “Thousand Buddha Footsteps” paved with blue stone, featuring 284 Buddha statues, connect the past and present, reflecting Buddhist philosophy of “Thousands of Buddhas Saving the World.”
