Shenyang Aquatic Center
Shenyang Olympic Sports Center blends modern architectural aesthetics with cutting-edge light-and-shadow art, establishing itself as the most dynamic leisure landmark in Northeast China. The complex comprises a main stadium, an aquatics center, a tennis center, and a commercial plaza. The main stadium seats 55,000 spectators and features a double-layer membrane roof structure that transforms at night into a 360-degree holographic projection canvas, animating regional cultural symbols—such as the Siberian tiger and ice sculptures—into flowing visual narratives. Inside the complex, the indoor theme park "Oleqi" centers on an ice-and-snow theme, offering attractions like a 4D cinema and VR skiing experiences. In winter, visitors can enjoy traditional Northeastern folk ice lantern exhibitions, while summer turns the space into a dreamy aquatic wonderland. Completed in 2013, this architectural ensemble embodies the spirit of Shenyang’s sporting evolution. Its design draws inspiration from Manchu shamanic totemic motifs, and the undulating curves of its exterior echo the meandering flow of the Liao River. As a venue for the football matches of the 2014 Asian Games, it has witnessed countless thrilling moments. Beneath ground level, the "Memories of Shenyang" exhibition hall uses multimedia technology to recreate historical scenes of Hong Taiji (the Later Jin Khan) training troops and preparing for battle on this very site, creating a dialogue across time between contemporary entertainment and ancient military culture. As night falls, an intelligent lighting system on the roof dynamically shifts colors according to seasonal festivals, transforming the entire complex into a glittering constellation that illuminates Shenyang’s skyline and anchors the city’s vibrant night-time economy.
