Hunhe Park
Located within the heart of Shenyang’s city core, the Hun River Park weaves a dynamic ecological painting around the Hun River as its axis. More than just a city’s green lung, it’s a hidden waterfront sanctuary blending natural landscapes with rich cultural heritage. Winding promenades along the riverbank resemble jade ribbons, with cherry blossoms, osmanthus, and willows blooming in succession. In spring, the profusion of flowers is like a tapestry of colors, while in autumn, the layered foliage is ablaze with autumnal hues, creating poetic verses through the changing seasons. Ecological wetlands feature swaying reeds, migratory birds fluttering, and observation platforms often host white egrets circling, providing a natural gallery for photographers. The park boasts a cultural corridor inscribed with Shenyang’s historical significance as the birthplace of the Qing Dynasty. Emperor Hong Taiji (the Qing Emperor) once stationed troops and trained soldiers here, and the legend of Dorgon (a prominent political figure in the early Qing Dynasty) galloping across the river continues to be passed down through local folklore. The twelve themed sculptures scattered along the riverbank, cast in bronze, showcase the harmony between nature and culture – “The Twelve Scenery of Hun River.” As darkness falls, the lights outline the waterfront, and boats glide through the waters, creating the illusion of stepping into a long horizontal ink wash painting. As Shenyang’s earliest urban ecological restoration project, the Hun River Park transforms industrial remnants into green spaces, safeguarding the Hun River’s thousand-year watercourse while carrying the city’s memories. Here, the dialogue between nature and culture never ceases, and every scene tells an eternal poem of humanity and the earth coexisting.
