Chayang Cotton City Historical Site Group
The Chayang Cotton City Historical Site Group is located in Shantou City, Chaoyang District, and is a well-preserved Ming and Qing Dynasty city, often referred to as “a living fossil of Shantou culture.” Its key feature is the complete preservation of the city walls and alleyways, with brick and tile buildings and winding blue-stone streets, creating a vivid picture of traditional Shantou urban life. The existing “Three Streets Six Alleys” layout within the site is a valuable sample for studying Ming and Qing urban planning, and you can still see traditional Shantou folk houses like “Four Golden Pieces” and “Descending Tiger” in the alleys. The craftsmanship and artistry displayed in the carved beams and painted decorations are truly beautiful.
