Located in Chenghai District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province, the Zhēnghǎi Hóngtóu Chuán Bówùguǎn is a humanities museum dedicated to the history of Chaozhou overseas Chinese and the red-hat boat trade culture. It is not only a witness to history but also a cultural hall that carries the spirit of Chaozhou people’s overseas struggle. The museum vividly recreates the important role of red-hat boats in the Maritime Silk Road and the touching stories of Chaozhou overseas Chinese’s arduous entrepreneurship and dedication to their motherland through rich artifacts and historical documents. The museum features multiple themed exhibition areas, including a red-hat boat model exhibition area, an overseas Chinese archive exhibition area, and a Chaozhou folk culture exhibition area. Among them, the wooden red-hat boat model is lifelike, recreating the magnificent scene of red-hat boats sailing far away; the overseas Chinese archives record the correspondence between overseas Chinese and their hometowns, showcasing their deep longing for their homeland and the love of a child.
