Svetoy Sofiya Cathedral is a treasure of Byzantine-style architecture. Its red brick exterior walls and golden onion domes shimmer in the snow, like a fairytale ice palace. The cathedral’s dome is inlaid with stained glass, which refracts a dreamy halo in the sunlight. The weathered walls tell of a century of vicissitudes. In winter, covered in snow, it appears more solemn and majestic, and is known as “The Sacred Temple in the Northland Snow.”
