Shiji Jinhua Shopping Center
Xi'an Century Golden Flower Shopping Center in Xianyang weaves modern commerce with the ancient charm of Guanzhong culture into a dazzling tapestry. The complex features architecture inspired by Qin dynasty palaces, where flying eaves and interlocking brackets are adorned with traditional paper-cut patterns, and corridors are lined with columns engraved with excerpts from the “Annals of Qin” in Sima Qian’s *Records of the Grand Historian*. Stepping inside feels like walking through a corridor of time. At its heart lies the “Impressions of Guanzhong” themed district, home to intangible cultural heritage workshops, Qinqiang opera teahouses, and a Terracotta Warrior-themed creative market. On the third floor, the “Qin-Han Feast” restaurant serves the classic “Eight Bowls of Guanzhong” on bronze-ware-inspired tableware, while chefs in Han-style attire perform ceremonial rituals of the ancient Qin banquet right before guests’ eyes. International flagship stores subtly integrate traditional motifs—ZARA’s window displays feature painted Terracotta Warriors, while H&M’s apparel showcases calligraphy in Qin-era seal script. As a key component of Xianyang’s urban renewal initiative, the site once yielded fragments of Western Han pottery figurines during construction. Archaeologists speculate that the underlying strata may be connected to the ruins of the Qin dynasty’s Xianyang Palace. Contemporary architect Wang Jianguo deliberately incorporated “skywell” courtyards into the design, allowing natural light to flood the atrium—a subtle nod to the “Mingtang” (Hall of Light) concept from the Zhou rites. Each Qingming Festival, the mall hosts a “Qin Ancestors Commemoration Week,” reviving the martial spirit of the Qin people and drawing descendants of Li Si—the Qin dynasty’s chancellor—as well as history enthusiasts to join in the celebration.
