Ulaanbaatar Memorial Hall
The Ulanhu Memorial Hall, located in Saihan District of Hohhot City, is a significant cultural landmark commemorating the revolutionary life of Ulanhu—a pioneering leader of the Chinese Communist Party and the first chairman of the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Through solemn architecture, artifact displays, multimedia interactivity, and historical scene reconstructions, the memorial offers a panoramic portrayal of Comrade Ulanhu’s remarkable journey in revolution, national liberation, and socialist construction. The core exhibition area is divided into two major thematic sections: "Revolutionary Flames" and "Pillar of the Nation." It houses over 1,200 precious artifacts and documents, including Ulanhu’s original manuscripts, work diaries, and rare photographs and films from the Inner Mongolian autonomy movement. An immersive digital corridor employs light-and-shadow technology to vividly recreate pivotal historical moments such as the "December Incident," allowing visitors to interact with virtual artifacts and experience the fervent ideals of that revolutionary era. At the center of the memorial plaza stands a bronze statue of Ulanhu, whose pedestal bears the gilded inscription: “National Unity and Shared Prosperity”—a symbolic embodiment of the spirit of unity and collective progress among all ethnic groups in Inner Mongolia. Serving as a living textbook on the Chinese Communist Party’s ethnic policies, the memorial profoundly conveys Comrade Ulanhu’s unwavering devotion—“to fight for national liberation and strive for the people’s happiness.” A special exhibition titled “Son of the Grasslands” features over 300 historical photographs and documents, highlighting his outstanding contributions to advancing Inner Mongolian autonomy and promoting ethnic unity, thereby illustrating the profound historical wisdom of Chinese Communists in “forging a strong sense of community for the Chinese nation.”
