The Pu'er Tea Museum is located in Yunnan Province, Pu'er, offering an immersive experience unveiling the millennium legend of Pu'er tea. The museum utilizes light and shadow technology to recreate the sound of camel bells along the Tea Horse Road, allowing visitors to touch ancient tea tree specimens, listen to tea farmers’ oral traditions, and feel the temporal transition from ancient tea forests to tea horse stations. The core exhibition area, “Tea Source Secret Realm,” showcases the origins of wild tea trees through holographic projection. Precious artifacts include Tang Dynasty Tea Horse Tickets and Certificates, Qing Dynasty Tea Cake Patterns, and the living transmission of Pu'er tea production techniques. The Tea Art Corridor is a highlight featuring traditional hand-made tea production, and visitors can participate in processes such as kneading, steaming, and pressing, experiencing the transformation from fresh leaves to tea cakes. The museum’s specially designed “Tea Horse Road Reconstruction Area” is recreated in a 1:1 scale, with camel footprints and details of Tea Horse Road merchants’ clothing, which is stunning. Pu'er tea carries the ancient tea trade and commerce civilization, and its “the older, the more fragrant” characteristic has been praised by generations of literati. Lu Yu, a Tang Dynasty tea scholar, recorded its “fragrant, sweet, and lively” essence. The museum’s collection includes Qing Dynasty tea merchant Zhang Yunshi’s handwritten notes, revealing the trade network of Pu'er tea exported to Southeast Asia. Here, every leaf of tea is a messenger of history, and every whiff of tea fragrance tells a saga of ethnic fusion.
