Tianmen Shan Cableway boasts the title of “world’s longest high-altitude cableway,” with a total length of 7455 meters and a vertical drop of 1279 meters, transporting visitors to the 1200-meter-high glass observation platform. The 360° panoramic glass platform is suspended above the cliffs, with rolling clouds beneath and peaks like dark ink, causing a sense of awe. The cableway passes through perilous sections such as the “Gui Gu Stack Trail” and the “Tianmen Cave Entrance,” traversing between lush green forests and drifting clouds, as if entering a fairyland. Tianmen Cave as the main attraction, 131 meters high and 60 meters deep, has been regarded as “Tianmen Immortal Palace” since ancient times, and legend has it that the Taoist ancestor Zhang Sanfeng [Yuan Dynasty Taoist] practiced and enlightened himself here, leaving behind the legend of “Tianmen Cave Opens.” The scenic area’s “Gui Gu Stack Trail” winds like a dragon, with a pathway width of only 1 meter, with deep chasms on both sides without a bottom, requiring you to hold the railing and step by step, heart pounding. The “Glass Stack Trail” is paved with transparent materials, overlooking ten thousand foot deep abyss, causing a rapid heartbeat. Tianmen Mountain has been the object of poets and writers since the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai [Tang Dynasty Poet] wrote poems “Tianmen Interrupts the Chu River Opens,” depicting the mountain’s grandeur vividly. The scenic area integrates natural wonders and human cultural heritage, allowing you to feel “one sees all mountains small” grandeur, and also to understand Taoist philosophy of “harmony between heaven and man,” is a cultural paradise that combines adventure, romance and history.
