Kaifeng Jewish Cemetery
Located in the Longting District, it is the best-preserved Jewish cemetery in Asia, with its weathered tombstones and unique religious symbols silently telling the story of a civilization that has crossed thousands of years. The cemetery is based on traditional Jewish architectural style, with blue bricks covering the ground extending to between the cypresses and pines, hundreds of tombstones engraved with Hebrew inscriptions, some of which still retain the ancient seal carving techniques of the Yuan Dynasty. Notably, the central “Twelve Tribes Memorial” with its spiraling staircase reflects the Jewish symbol of “Tree of Life,” creating a fascinating dialogue with surrounding Han cultural elements.
