Mingxiaoling
Mingxiaoling is located at the foot of Purple Mountain in Nanjing, it is the royal mausoleum where the founder emperor Zhu Yuanzhang and his empress Ma are buried. Built in 1382 and completed after 28 years, it is one of the largest imperial tombs in China, designated as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1961 and included in the World Heritage List in 1988. The complex is built along the mountain, following the “Heaven and Man Harmony” Feng Shui concept, perfectly integrating natural terrain with imperial symbols.
