Wengcheng of Guan City
Located at the western Wengcheng ruins of Jiayuguan, it is the most representative military building of the Ming Dynasty Great Wall defensive system. The Wengcheng features a semi-circular arch-shaped structure, with a circumference exceeding one thousand kilometers, the walls towering like mountains, with arrow towers and abundant shooting holes, resembling a giant beast swallowing enemy troops, showcasing the ingenious defensive wisdom of “catching turtles in a shell.” Its unique Wengcheng design trapped attackers in a deadly dilemma, considered a peak achievement in ancient military engineering.
