Qingxi Shan Scenic Area
Qingxiu Mountain Scenic Area, nestled in the northern part of Nanning, is a jade-green gem embedded within the urban landscape. Combining karst landforms with subtropical vegetation, the mountain rises like a coiled dragon, cloaked in lush greenery that transforms with the seasons. From the summit, visitors are treated to a sweeping vista of the Yongjiang River winding around the city like a silken ribbon, where modern skyscrapers and pristine natural scenery interweave along the skyline, creating a dynamic yet harmonious ecological tapestry. Key attractions within the scenic area include Longxiang Lake, Fenghuang Ridge, the Six Lakes Ecological Zone, and Guanyin Cave. Longxiang Lake is famed for its serene waters reflecting surrounding peaks—boating across the lake feels like gliding through a living painting. The viewing platform atop Fenghuang Ridge offers the best panoramic view of Nanning; at dawn, mist often swirls into a sea of clouds below. The Six Lakes Ecological Zone features aquatic forests and serves as a sanctuary for rare birds—gentle bamboo raft rides may bring encounters with elegant egrets in flight. Guanyin Cave harbors Song dynasty cliff carvings, and inside, uniquely shaped stalactites conceal hidden wonders. Since ancient times, Qingxiu Mountain has been a sacred Taoist site. Legend holds that the renowned Tang dynasty Taoist master Zhang Boduan (a Northern Song dynasty Daoist) once practiced alchemy and cultivation here, leaving behind the tale of "the alchemical furnace hidden atop Qingxiu Mountain." In the Qing dynasty, Li Fu, the prefect of Nanning, praised its beauty in verse: "A thousand emerald peaks lock in the delicate mist." Among the ancient trees preserved in the area stands a thousand-year-old banyan, its gnarled branches bearing witness to two millennia of Nanning’s urban evolution. More than just a natural refuge, Qingxiu Mountain is an ecological museum where history and modernity converge, offering visitors a profound dual nourishment of nature’s spirit and cultural heritage with every breath.
