Jinggangshan National Nature Reserve, straddling the border between Hunan and Jiangxi provinces, is an ecological sanctuary blending pristine forests, rare flora and fauna, and revolutionary heritage. It boasts the highest concentration of negative oxygen ions in China, earning it the title "Natural Oxygen Bar." Shrouded in mist like a celestial realm, the reserve hosts unique ecosystems where rare plants such as Chinese yew and Bretschneidera sinensis coexist with wildlife like the Chinese giant salamander and clouded leopard. Emerald forests shimmer with a faint blue glow in the morning light, offering visitors profound tranquility and awe. The core scenic area, Huangyangjie, is famed as "the most precipitous place under heaven," with sheer cliffs carved like knife blades and waves of pine murmurs echoing through the valleys. Nearby, Wuzhi Peak rises amid layered green ridges, rewarding climbers with breathtaking 360-degree panoramic views. Inside Yuantou Cave, towering stalactites form an underground palace, while Azalea Lake reflects vast seas of blooming rhododendrons on its rippling emerald surface. In spring, the hills blaze like flames with vibrant azaleas; in autumn, forests transform into a tapestry of golden yellows and fiery reds. This land is steeped in revolutionary history. In 1927, Mao Zedong [Founder of the Communist Party of China] and Zhu De [Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army] established China’s first revolutionary base here, with Peng Dehuai [Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army] and other generals leading battles across these mountains. Today, red culture and natural beauty intertwine harmoniously: ancient mountain paths still bear faded Red Army slogans, and the rustling pines seem to echo the historic vow—“A single spark can start a prairie fire.” At dawn, as sunlight pierces the mist, statues of Red Army soldiers emerge faintly from the haze, silently witnessing Jinggangshan’s enduring transformation from cradle of revolution to pristine ecological haven.
