Ta Yuàn Sì is located in the core area of Mount Wutaishan, renowned for the towering seven-story Da Bai Ta. The pagoda’s body is entirely gilded, inlaid with thousands of gold foils, shimmering brilliantly in the sunlight. The top of the pagoda has a copper bell that rings softly in the wind, harmonizing with the chanting sounds from the mountains. Before the pagoda is the Relic Tower of Manjusri Bodhisattva, a solemn and revered site witnessing the fusion of Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism. The temple features ancient, verdant cypresses, weathered stone carvings, and the most valuable collection of stone carvings from the Ming Dynasty’s “Clear Cool Mountain Records,” documenting the stories of countless monks.
