The Xi Xia Museum is located in Zhongwei, Ningxia, based on the design concept of “The Activation Code of the Millennium Silk Road Civilization.” The museum displays over 10,000 Xia Dynasty artifacts, including ceramics, scrolls, and coins, with Xia Dynasty texts and Buddhist statue fragments being particularly valuable, witnessing the civilization trajectory of this mysterious dynasty. A holographic projection theater recreates the rise and fall of the Xia Dynasty, allowing visitors to witness Li Yuanhao’s [Xia Dynasty Founder] iron cavalry breaking through the Gansu Mountains, and also to glimpse Wei Name Ling Gong’s [Xia Dynasty General] military formations on the Yellow River bank. Immersive interactive devices allow visitors to become Silk Road merchants, experiencing the trade caravans of the Silk Road Gourd Road through virtual reality technology. The museum’s three core exhibition areas each have their own characteristics: The “Xia Dynasty” exhibition area uses bronze castings of the “Xia Dynasty Totem” as a visual focus, accompanied by sound and light technology to depict the dynasty’s succession; The “Silk Road Post Station” exhibition area displays Xia Dynasty artifacts traded with the Central Plains and Western Regions, such as the fusion traces of blue-glazed porcelain fragments and Persian silver coins; The “Civilization Fusion” exhibition area uses digital reconstruction technology to showcase the co-existence of Xia, Tibetan, and Chinese texts. The museum’s specially set “Xia Dynasty Language Learning Area” allows visitors to experience the scene of ancient scholars writing Xia Dynasty language, feeling the wisdom of “Xia Dynasty Literati” creating characters. It is not only a resonance of history, but also a living witness of civilization fusion, allowing every visitor to touch the undying civilization brilliance on the Silk Road.
