Liàngfàng Bì
Liàngfàng Bì is Chongqing’s most representative urban landmark, standing majestically on the core of Yuzhong Peninsula. It is renowned for the monument to the victory of the Anti-Japanese War and the People’s Great Hall of People, forming a group of iconic buildings. The monument is entirely white, engraved with the four large golden characters “Victory in the Anti-Japanese War,” embodying solemnity and heroism, witnessing the joyous celebrations of the Chongqing people after the victory in 1946. A winding tree-lined avenue connects the Baikuang Street (Eight One Delicious Street), Hongya Cave, and other attractions, forming a three-in-one, three-dimensional landscape. Baikuang Street gathers mountain city delicacies, such as spicy and fragrant Chongqing noodles, sour and spicy Chen Ma Hua (candied hawthorns), and bubbling hot pot ingredients, with the rich aroma of peppercorns and beef tallow permeating the air. The People’s Great Hall of People is known for its “Snow Velvet” dome and golden pillars. It was the largest hall in the Southwest region when it was completed in 1951, and Zhou Enlai Premier presided over important meetings here, and Deng Xiaoping also gave speeches here.
