Han Dynasty Ancient City Wall
The ancient city wall of Handan stands majestically at the eastern foothills of the Taihang Mountains, its massive rammed-earth structure etching the weathered silhouette of the millennia-old State of Zhao. This Ming Dynasty defensive relic stretches over three kilometers, winding like a dragon and fusing natural landscapes with human history into a solidified scroll of time. This ancient wall, embodying the very DNA of Zhao culture, once witnessed the sweeping reforms of King Wuling of Zhao—who championed nomadic-style cavalry and attire—and echoed with the legendary tale of Lin Xiangru, the famed Zhao statesman who successfully returned the He氏 Jade intact to its rightful owner. Its construction techniques blend Warring States ramming methods with Ming-era fortification expertise, making it a living fossil for studying ancient Chinese military defense systems. As sunset gilds the ramparts in golden light, the weathered surface...
