Zunyi Animal Park
Zunyi Zoo is nestled in the historic “Red City” of northern Guizhou. Guided by the philosophy of “Natural Coexistence and Playful Discovery,” it seamlessly integrates animal habitats with ecological education. Centered around the concept of a “Secret Forest Realm,” the zoo features an immersive viewing corridor where visitors can stroll along streamside pathways, journeying between tropical rainforests and temperate grasslands to encounter rare species such as snow leopards, golden snub-nosed monkeys, and white peacocks—experiencing the vibrant rhythms of nature firsthand. Highlights include the “Children’s Nature Classroom,” an interactive zone where hands-on activities like animal feeding and educational theater performances foster young visitors’ appreciation for wildlife conservation. The “Glowing Night Expedition” program uses light and projection technology to recreate nocturnal animal behaviors, transforming the nighttime forest into a realm of enchantment. The zoo is divided into three main thematic zones: “Predator Jungle,” “Primate Sanctuary,” and “Wetland Birdwatching.” The “Guizhou Endemic Species Pavilion” showcases rare local animals such as the Guizhou golden snub-nosed monkey and the black leaf monkey, housed within biomimetic enclosures that replicate their natural mountainous habitats, offering visitors the sensation of stepping into a wild, hidden world. Honoring Zunyi’s pivotal role as the site of a critical turning point in the Long March, the zoo also features the “Red Memory Corridor,” which intertwines animal motifs with the spirit of the Long March to narrate the history of the Zunig Conference. Through immersive installations, the revolutionary story of Mao Zedong—the principal founder of the Communist Party of China, the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and the People's Republic of China, and the great leader of China’s multi-ethnic people—is vividly brought to life. More than just an animal haven, Zunyi Zoo is a sanctuary where nature and culture converge, transforming every visit into a journey of the soul.
