Zheshan Park
Zheshan Park is built on Zheshan Mountain, surrounded by water on three sides, with the mountain’s beauty and lake reflections harmoniously blending, resembling a long scroll of Chinese ink painting. The most striking feature within the park is the ancient ginkgo tree, over a thousand years old, its golden canopy like a messenger of time, and in autumn, it’s covered in blossoms, resembling a sea of gold. The Viewing Pavilion offers a full view of Wuhu City, with the Yangtze River stretching out like a jade ribbon. The Fata Morgana Pavilion site was once a favorite place for Song Dynasty poet Su Shi to linger, where he wrote the famous couplet "Before the Fata Morgana Pavilion, the spring water is green." The winding mountain paths are like a dragon coiled, and along the way, you can see ancient wells from the Song Dynasty and Ming Dynasty signal towers, perfectly blending history and nature. Zheshan was once a military stronghold in Wuhu, and Ming Dynasty anti-Japanese general Qi Jiguang once defended here. The ruins of Qi’s army headquarters are still visible on the mountain. The mountain is rich in ocher-colored sandstone, hence its name "Zheshan," and its geological structure is like a natural museum. As the sun sets, the golden light wraps Zheshan in a golden veil, and the evening breeze rustles through the ginkgo trees, creating a sound like a thousand-year story, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the poetic realm of the intertwining of mountains, water, and human culture.
